Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows the summer transfer window is a chance to try and make up ground on Premier League champions Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are the undisputed best team in England, and it’s up to Solskjaer to secure the new faces required to shorten that gap.
While a string of big names have been linked to the club, this could also be the summer that one or two major players leave Old Trafford.
With that in mind, here are the latest Manchester United transfer rumours.
Man Utd target denied departure amid uncertain future
Matteo Guendouzi has reportedly been told by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta he is part of his plans, amid uncertainty over his future.
Guendouzi, 21, joined Arsenal from French side Lorient but reports recently have painted an uncertain future for the midfielder.
According to the Express, Guendouzi wants a guaranteed first-team football as he looks to force his way into the France side for Euro 2020 and the Olympics next summer.
Arteta has told the midfielder he is a key player in his vision for next season, according to ESPN. Manchester United were said to be interested in the midfielder along with Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Koulibaly would prefer to play for Pep
Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly would prefer to play for Pep Guardiola amid reports linking him to Manchester United.
Koulibaly, 29, is contracted to the Italian club until 2023 and is considered a highly sought after defender.
The Sun claims that the defender will cost any prospective buyer in the region of £72.5million.
Even if Man Utd were ready to pay that asking price they have been dealt a blow with the news that Koulibaly would prefer to suit up in the sky blue of Manchester City, according to Mundo Deportivo.
It is believed that Guardiola is in the market for a centre-back, and Koulibaly remains a man in demand.
As well as both Manchester clubs, Koulibaly has been linked with a move to Liverpool where he would partner Virgil van Dijk.
Solskjaer tracking Monaco youngster
Manchester United are interested in AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile.
Badiashile, 19, is a product of the club’s academy and has represented France at youth level.
Now, Foot Mercato claims the Red Devils are interested in the player and his potential.
The same report states that the club face competition from Bayer Leverkusen, who have made a bid in the region of €15million (£14m) for the player.
This comes days after a report by RMC Sport claimed that Rennes had made an opening offer of the same amount for Badiashile.
Monaco are said to be demanding double that for the defender who made his Ligue 1 debut in 2018.
