Ronald Koeman has been named as the new Barcelona head coach looking to turn around a torrid situation for the club, yet Gerard Deulofeu is not impressed with the decision.
The former Barcelona winger spent part of the 2016/17 Premier League season under the orders of Koeman but he feels he didn’t learn much.
“I can tell you about Koeman from my personal experience, and I have very little to tell you about Koeman,” he said on Cataluna Radio.
“He provided me absolutely nothing.
“I wasn’t happy, I asked to leave and I went to Milan.
“We’ll see how he does at the Camp Nou.”
Barcelona are going through a crisis, yet Deulofeu didn’t seem too bothered.
“The truth is that Barcelona’s [situation] does not bother me,” he said.
“In fact, right now, I don’t care.”
Deulofeu came up through the youth ranks at Barcelona but he says that the club no longer looks after its youth like before.
“At Barcelona, they have not had patience with La Masia for years, he said.
“If you give [the youngsters] time, they learn the style of the first team.
“There are players, many of us have come from there, but not patience.
“Now there will be changes, but they are years behind.”
