Ronald Koeman wants a large part of his Barcelona squad for the 2020/21 campaign to be in place by the time training restarts next week, and that has led to the coach informing Luis Suarez and, now, Arturo Vidal that they are not in his plans.
As such, the Uruguayan and Chilean have been told to look for a new team immediately.
Over the coming hours, Koeman will speak to the rest of the dressing room. He has many more players to contact.
Barcelona announced that there would be profound changes in the dressing room, which is proving to already be the case.
Both Suarez and Vidal have received offers from other teams, although they could be used as part of swap deals this summer.
Other Barcelona players who Koeman does not have in his plans are Ivan Rakitic, Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo.
They know that the Dutch coach and the club are happy to move on from them in this transfer window, but they are also waiting for a call from Koeman.
Meanwhile, the likes of Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto and Gerard Pique are all waiting to see what their new coach has to say to them; they are aware that almost the entire squad is up for sale, but nobody has told them anything yet.
These three players’ continuity at the Camp Nou is not frowned upon by Koeman, while Jordi Alba knows that he will still be a Barcelona player next season.
