Shocking: Coutinho explains why he still wants to leave Barca

Philippe Coutinho’s future remains uncertain – but he has made a public commitment to Barcelona ahead of talks with Ronald Koeman.

Coutinho helped Bayern Munich to Champions League glory as he came off the bench in their win over Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon on Sunday night.

After the game, the Brazilian confirmed it would be his last game for the Bavarian club as they opt against making his loan spell permanent.

It means he will return to Barcelona at least for the time being – and he seemed positive to make things work with reports new manager Koeman could give him a fresh start.

Speaking after their Champions League triumph, Coutinho told Brazilian TV channel Esporte Interativo that he is heading back to the Nou Camp “full of enthusiasm” as he reiterated the club was his “dream” transfer when he left Liverpool.

“I am overjoyed with this title. It was my last game in this jersey, ”Coutinho said (via Sport Bild).

“I will work to ensure that I can do things that haven’t happened before next season.

“I am returning to Barcelona with a lot of enthusiasm. It was always the club I dreamed of playing.”

Despite his public declaration, Coutinho’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, has confirmed he is keen on a return to the Premier League.

And Marca claim that he would actually prefer to head back to England for a fresh start than stay with Barcelona.

But with a shortage of suitors due to his high wages, Coutinho may have to stay put which could explain his public declaration of excitement over heading back to the Nou Camp.

With Koeman in charge and Lionel Messi demanding a shock exit, the stage could be set for Coutinho to finally succeed at Barcelona and perform an unlikely turnaround.
