Wizkid has unveiled stunning visuals for his single “Smile” with H.E.R on Thursday(Sept 22).

The 30yr-old singer and songwriter tweeted, “SMILE VIDEO”. The video was directed by Meji Alabi who also directed Burna Boy’s ‘Monsters You Made’ most recently.

The feel-good clip stars his kids, Zion, Ayo, and Bolu (of whom he dedicated the video to) and a group of other people who seem to have different reasons to smile despite the state of the world at the moment.

If you watch closely you will see a smiley face in almost all through the video, whether in the form of a real face or as an emoji.

“I can be your substance/ It’s easy when the love don’t hide (no hide, no hide) / Had to learn from my mistakes / Company creates companions,” Wizkid sings.

“Smile” is part of the album “Made In Lagos” which is expected to be released to the public on October 15th and it is also Wizkid’s first solo work since his participation in “BROWN SKIN GIRL ” with Beyoncé, her daughter Blue Ivy and SAINt JHN in the song and visual album, “Black Is King”.

‘Love Goes’ Sam Smith announces release of third studio album come Oct. 30.

Advertisements

The 28-year-old artist shared the news of the album, out Oct. 30, on their Instagram page Thursday.

“I’m extremely happy and overjoyed to announce my third album (I can’t believe I’m saying that) ‘Love Goes’,” Smith wrote. “This album marks a time of experimentation and self discovery in my life.”

They continued, “I wrote this from the age of 26-28 and it’s been one hell of a ride. I hope the people who listen to it enjoy it and love it like I have and do. You can pre-order now at samsmithworld.com”

The Thursday release of Smith’s single “Diamonds” was accompanied by a music video featuring the singer freely dancing to the upbeat anthem.

Advertisements

In addition to “Diamonds,” Love Goes includes several of their previously released singles, including “Dancing With a Stranger,” “To Die For,” “I Feel Love,” “Promises,” “Fire on Fire” and the hit “How Do You Sleep?”

In March, Smith announced that the upcoming album would be delayed past its scheduled release date of May 1 and shared that the original name, To Die For, would be changed.

In a letter posted to their Instagram Thursday, Smith addressed the delay, apologizing to fans. “I am sorry it’s taken awhile,” they wrote. “But these unprecedented times gave me the room and space to fall in love with these songs all over again.”

Smith also reflected on the album as a whole in the letter, writing, “The last two years have been the most experimental time of my life, personally but also musically. Every time I went into the studio I promised myself I would shoot for the stars and have no limitations. The result has been so magical and so therapeutic and FUN.”

Advertisements

They continued, “My love for music is so broad and all of my musical guilty pleasures became pleasures. No guilt, no shame, just the love of singing and creating and dancing.”

“Listen to these songs with an open heart, treat each song like a different flower from the garden and have fun with them. I tried not to take myself too seriously when writing a few of these songs and I hope they make you smile because they made and make me smile.

After it all I still believe love is the answer,” Smith added. “And with love in out heart and kindness in our words and actions, we sing on.”

Smith’s new album, Love Goes, will be available wherever you stream music on Oct. 30th.

6ix9ine presents first album since his release from prison.

Advertisements

Tekashi 6ix9ine dropped first album since being released from prison, and he’s definitely leaning into the whole snitch thing.

The album’s called “TattleTales,” and there’s a special cameo in the music video, “TUTU,” by none other than Blac Chyna. BC makes her presence known with pink boots and sprinkles.

The album has big stars, including Nicki Minaj, Smilez and Akon.

As we reported, Tekashi is a free man, with strings attached. He completed home confinement last month, but he has to keep his nose clean for 5 years while he’s on probation.

Tekashi faced 47 years in prison but copped a deal, agreeing to testify against his former gang members. He was sentenced to 24 months back in December and had already served 13. He was released early to home confinement because of coronavirus.

Lots of folks thought Tekashi was done in the music biz because it was just too dangerous for him. Clearly, Tekashi begs to differ.

‘WAP’ – Cardi B was not ready for this amazing mashup & Taylor Swift’s debut.

Advertisements

The internet has once again excelled itself as one creative fan created an amazing remix of Cardi B’s WAP and Taylor Swift’s hit single, You Belong With Me.

Yup – 2020’s most explicit track got mixed with Taylor’s 2008 country pop track and even Cardi B was surprised by the results. The rap star reposted a clip featuring Tik Tok star Niamh Adkins’ hilarious take on the WAP challenge, playing on her creative mix. Cardi wrote alongside the clip: ‘I ain’t saw that coming.’

WAP, which features Megan Thee Stallion, was released earlier this month and has become one of the most divisive songs in recent memory.

However, it debuted at number one on the US’ Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier in August and earned the most streams in the first week of release with over 93 million plays. I ain’t saw that comin.

Fans have celebrated the female empowerment anthem – which stands for Wet As P**y – while others have criticised the explicit lyrics. But a highlight of fan reaction has come in the form of the WAP challenge and the ever creative mashups

‘Tenet’ – Travis Scott releases song from forthcoming soundtrack.

Advertisements

Clocking in at just over three minutes, The Plan is set to feature in the upcoming Christopher Nolan film starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Clémence Poesy, Himesh Patel and Dimple Kapadia, alongside frequent Nolan collaborators Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.

Produced by Tenet composer Ludwig Göransson, the track mirrors the edgy, sci-fi vibe of the thriller with sweeping Vangelis-esque synths, electronic beats and robotically distorted vocals.

It arrives alongside the final trailer for the film, after the Texas rapper shared the single’s artwork on August 19. Writing on Twitter, he teased: “FLAME x CHRIS NOLAN COOK UP THE PLAN FRIDAY.”

Scott recently revealed in a GQ interview that he’s working on a joint album with Kid Cudi, after the two teamed up for the collaborative track The Scotts earlier this year. It’ll follow-up ’Astroworld’, which landed in 2018.

Tenet marks the first film directed by Nolan since 2017’s Dunkirk. It premieres internationally on August 26 after multiple release delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Twice As Tall’ – Online users troll Burna Boy over homophobic lyrics.

Advertisements

Burna Boy has been called out by some social media users for what they have called ‘homophobic lyrics’ on his recently released album, Twice as Tall.

We had earlier reported that Burna Boy Twice as Tall Album recorded about five million streams within the first hour of its release, making it become an instant hit.

On social media, fans and followers have been praising him for the album, while it has begun generating massive reviews online.

A Twitter user, @Blaise_21, took to the social media platform to call out Burna Boy for homophobia on the track, “Wettin Dey Sup.”

He wrote;

“This Burna boy lyric spills homophobia back to back.

I been sensed it.

Advertisements

Stop making excuses for Burna boy because you like his music.

Historically, gay people were called weak because they’re not attracted to women and many gay men could only be involved in anal sex.

Also, telling all of us you’re straight after having a song with Sam Smith”

The refrain of the track goes;

“I no be one of those men wey dey fear toto fuck nyash

Advertisements

Check am, na kpa goro kpa

Me I know say everybody got to die on day buried six feet under golo ta”

See more reactions below;

@UnekwuojoJimmy: This Burna Boy has shown time and time again that he is an insensitive, ignorant and razz little shit. Now his homophobia has jumped out… again!

But because he is your fave and you want to vibe so desperately to his mediocre music, you will unlook all his BS.

Advertisements

@TrophyHusbandD: Homophobic lines in music are so silly because they almost never add anything of value to the song…. But now a potentially good song becomes a source of pain or discomfort for your fans.

@fendihoe_: Not people being dishonest and gas lighting this tweet……..is it not on this same TL people were questioning his collab with Sam Smith Bc we all know he’s homophobic?

@Stepharney2: So you can go about screaming you’re gay and rainbowing up but the straight people can’t?

You’re the only one with the rights to state your sexuality in people’s faces?

The actual hypocrisy…. Burna Boy

‘WAP’ – Cardi B back Kylie Jenner’s Cameo in music video after over 64,000 signs petition.

Advertisements

The music video for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s single ‘WAP’ was the talk of the weekend, but there has still been one point of controversy.

In the video, the two singers explore a lush mansion filled with tigers and snakes, while artists including Normani and Rosalía make appearances. In another cameo, reality star Kylie Jenner appears strutting down a hallway and opening a door, which many took to Twitter to complain about.

Jenner’s appearance has become so fiercely debated in fact, that a petition calling to have her removed from the music video has received over 64,000 signatures.

The reason? “The video was perfect until we saw K and I wanted to throw my phone,” the petition’s description says.

She is a culture vulture who doesn’t remember how her own complexion looks! Down with the culture vultures!

Fans online questioned Jenner’s presence in the music video, considering her lack of dancing and singing ability. Others argued that Jenner has repeatedly appropriated Black culture, and that her airtime should have gone to an up-and-coming artist of colour like Rubi Rose, Mulatto and Sukihana, who also appeared in the video.

Advertisements

One fan even took it upon herself to edit Jenner out of the video entirely.

In a series of now deleted tweets, Cardi came to Jenner’s defence, saying that “not everything is about race.”

Why did I put Kylie on my music video? She treated my sister and daughter so lovely at her kid’s birthday party.

Even if it is controversial, Jenner’s cameo has certainly started a conversation. Like they say, there is no such thing as bad press.

Elbow agrees to perform one-off gig for Live music campaign.

Elbow have agreed to perform a one-off gig in Manchester to help raise money for grassroots music venues.

Front man Guy Garvey said he was “very proud to be involved” in the Passport: Back To Our Roots initiative.

Everything Everything, Public Service Broadcasting and The Slow Readers Club will also give concerts once gigs are permitted with no social distancing.

Tickets to the concerts can be won via a prize draw that opens on 17 August and runs for two weeks.

Elbow will perform at Night & Day Cafe in Manchester, while Public Service Broadcasting will play at The Amersham Arms in New Cross, south-east London.

Everything Everything will play at Bedford Esquires and The Slow Readers Club will play at The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.

“This is a simple way of looking after the very roots of British music and will result in some powerful, joyous shows when we can at last see each other again,” said Garvey.

The Music Venue Trust (MVT) will receive 80% of the money raised.

The remaining 20% will go to the Inner City Music charity, which operates not-for-profit Manchester venue Band on the Wall.

Everything Everything have also agreed to perform on an as yet unspecified date

Last month the MVT welcomed the news that up to 150 small music venues in England would share £2.25m in emergency government funding.

The organisation had previously warned that around 80% of its member venues could be forced to close as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are not complacent and are under no illusions that there still many challenges to overcome,” said the trust’s CEO and founder Mark Dayvd.

He called Passport: Back To Our Roots “an excellent and timely initiative that will help keep a spotlight on what still needs to be done”.

Beyonce drops “Black is King” visual Album

Advertisements

Beyonce’s highly anticipated visual album, Black Is King, arrived in early hours of Friday morning (July 31), premiering on Disney+ about a year after the 2019 release of the Lion King remake, which Beyonce voiced Nala in.

Black Is King includes a cast of notable and familiar faces, such Yemi Alade, Shatta Wale, WizKid, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams and JAY-Z, and moves across the world — from New York, to Los Angeles, South Africa, different parts of West Africa, to London and Belgium

On Instagram, Beyoncé shared that the film is meant to “celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry.”

Advertisements

“I typically keep comments short and sweet, but I just watched the trailer with my family and I’m excited. 🎶please don’t get me hype🎶🤪 “Black Is King” is a labor of love. It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching, and editing day and night for the past year. I’ve given it my all and now it’s yours. It was originally filmed as a companion piece to “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack and meant to celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry. I could never have imagined that a year later, all the hard work that went into this production would serve a greater purpose.
The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people across the world embark on a historic journey. We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books.
With this visual album, I wanted to present elements of Black history and African tradition, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy.
I spent a lot of time exploring and absorbing the lessons of past generations and the rich history of different African customs. While working on this film, there were moments where I’ve felt overwhelmed, like many others on my creative team, but it was important to create a film that instills pride and knowledge.
I only hope that from watching, you leave feeling inspired to continue building a legacy that impacts the world in an immeasurable way. I pray that everyone sees the beauty and resilience of our people.
This is a story of how the people left MOST BROKEN have EXTRAORDINARY gifts.❤️✊🏾 Thank you to Blitz, Emmanuel, Ibra, Jenn, Pierre, Dikayl, Kwasi and all the brilliant creatives. Thank you to all at Disney for giving this Black woman the opportunity to tell this story.
This experience has been an affirmation of a grander purpose. My only goal is that you watch it with your family and that it gives you pride.”

Produced by Beyoncé’s production company, Parkwood Entertainment, Black is King also includes four full-length videos for the tracks “Already,” “Brown Skin Girl,” “Mood 4 Eva” and “My Power,” which was featured in the latest trailer.

‘Whole New Mess’ – Angel Olsen announces her new Album

Advertisements

‘Whole New Mess’ is the stripped down companion piece that was part of the conversation around last year’s ‘All Mirrors’.

It’s out on August 28 through Jagjaguwar and was recorded with Michael Harris at The Unknown, the church turned studio created by Mount Eerie’s Phil Elverum and producer Nicholas Wilbur.

“I hadn’t been to The Unknown, but I knew about its energy. I wanted to go sit with the material and be with it in a way that felt like a residency,” Olsen says. “I didn’t need a lot, since it was just me and a guitar. But I wanted someone else there to hold me accountable for trying different things.”

Nine of its songs share DNA with ‘All Mirrors’ tracks, but Olsen points out that they’re not demos. ‘Whole New Mess’, a press release adds, “is its own record with its own immovable mood.” Stream director Ashley Connor’s video for the title track below.
