10 brutalised, 1 found dead as swordsman attacked Finnish.

A student has been confirmed dead while 10 others were injured after a sword-wielding man attacked students of a vocational college in eastern Finland on Tuesday October 1.

The ‘swordsman’ reportedly walked in on a class shortly after midday, pulled a sword out of his bag before attacking the teacher, the Iltahlehti news website reported. As she tried to flee, students threw chairs at the attacker in an attempt to escape and some were wounded.

The suspect said to be a Finnish citizen, was also carrying a gun in the attack that also left him injured after being confronted by local policemen who fired two shots. Two victims of the attack are said to be in criticial conditions.

“One dead body has been found at the college premises of Kuopio Herman,” police said.

The wounded have been taken to Kuopio university hospital where a major disaster alert is under way.

“He hit a girl in the neck with a sword and stabbed her in the stomach,” an unnamed eyewitness told Keskisuomalainen newspaper. The attacker also set off “some sort of small firebombs”, the eyewitness said.

The Police are yet to confirm a motive for the attack or whether the suspect is a student at the college. Commenting on the attack, Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne described it as “shocking and utterly reprehensible”.

Busola Dakolo Files A Counter To Biodun Fatoyinbo. (See court files)

Busola Dakolo has filed a counter to Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo’s Preliminary Objection stating that her court action is not statute barred and that the argument that her suit is out of time is misconceived and an attempt to hoodwink the court from the main issue and evade justice.

In her written argument in the court process, Busola Dakolo, through her Lawyer, argued that her cause of action is predicated on a continuing injury which is of a nature that is suffered from time to time, continuously, over a long period of time the substance of which has been established in a plethora of case laws as an exception to the application of the Statute of Limitation.

She urged the court to discountenance Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo’s Preliminary Objection that her matter is statute barred and asked that Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo submit himself to court for the purpose of justice.

She prays further that the Court should not allow the defendant to run away from justice hiding under statute of limitation and that emotional distress is a tort that cannot be quantified by time.

Busola Dakolo had on the 6th of September, 2019 commenced civil action on intentional infliction of emotional distress against Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, the Founder and Pastor of Common Wealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, over an allegation of Rape.

Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, last week, through his lawyer, Mr Alex Izinyon, SAN filed a preliminary objection arguing that the matter is statute barred and that she can no longer come up with a court action again against him, thus attempting to rid the court of an opportunity to entertain the suit on its substantive merit while giving both parties an opportunity to present their case for impartial adjudication.

[2 – 0] Real Madrid vs Club Bruges (Match Highlights below)

Real Madrid battled back from 2-0 down to draw with Club Bruges on another disappointing Champions League night for the 13-time champions.

Zinedine Zidane’s side were poor again at the Bernabeu and were almost undone by a bizarre double from 21-year-old Emmanuel Dennis.

The Nigerian’s first came as he miscontrolled Percy Tau’s cross past a wrongfooted Thibaut Courtois and into the net – initially disallowed for offside but awarded after a long video assistant referee delay.

Amidst intermittent downpour at the Police Parade ground, Ikeja venue of the 59th independence celebration anniversary of the Nation on Tuesday, Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu assured of commitment to achieving collective aspiration of the state and nation.

In his independence anniversary speech, the governor said, “As leaders in position of authority we are committed to achieving the greatest good for the greatest number.

“We will ensure that we do all that we can to improve and impact the lives of our people through our developmental programmes.”

Adding that it is reassuring that the state is on the right track to attaining greatness and achieving the goal to build the foundation for sustainable growth and development.

“Today we draw our strength from our cosmopolitan nature which has made our state a melting pot for all the various ethnic groups in Nigeria, this is one of the visions of our founding fathers which we would continue to cherish, sustain and protect for generations”.

The governor reinterated the determination of his administration to sustain its developmental agenda as captured in THEMES through public-private partnership building desired to attract more investment to the state.

He appealed for continuous cooperation and support from all citizens of the state saying “governance is not about the people in government alone, it is everybody’s business.”
