COVID-19: I test negative despite meeting with Abba Kyari – Sen. Mamora


The Minister of State for Health, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, says he has tested negative for coronavirus.

Mamora said this in a text message sent to newsmen on Thursday.


He admitted that he came in contact with at least one person who tested positive for the virus.

The minister, however, did not disclose the identity of the person he came in contact with.


Mamora said, “Following my contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, I went into self-isolation. Testing was carried out on me yesterday (Wednesday) and the result came back negative this morning (Thursday).”

Newsmen report that many ministers have gone into self-isolation since reports emerged that the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and three of his aides tested positive for coronavirus.

Kyari also attended the Federal Executive Council meeting last week as well as meetings with All Progressives Congress’ governors.

COVID-19: I had no contact with Abba Kyari – Douye Diri says.


Bayelsa State governor, Douye Diri has denied meeting with Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, before they tested positive for coronavirus.

Diri who disclosed this during a visit to the state isolation center located at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri, Yenagoa local government area on Wednesday March 25, said when he met with Bala Mohammed at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, he had not been infected with the virus.


The Bayelsa State Governor also revealed that he never met with Kyari as he was in Germany at that time.

Diri said;

“I have no contact with Governor Bala Muhammed and Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Buhari.


What happened was that in the NEC meeting, we normally sit in alphabetical order, after Bauchi is Bayelsa, so on Thursday last week, when we had NEC meeting, we sat close, and before then,

he had not contacted the virus.“During the NEC meeting, Abba Kyari was not there, we were told that he was somewhere in Germany.


So, actually I am even taken by surprise, where and how the speculation is coming that I had contact with the Chief of Staff.

“For Bala Muhammed, yes, we always sit close during NEC meeting, and by then, he had not contacted the disease.”

The Bayelsa State Governor also stated that they have taken measures in protecting its water and land boundaries, and also monitoring visitors coming into the state.

COVID-19: Osinbajo, Buhari self-isolate after Abba Kyari’s positive test.


Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has gone into self-isolation after President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari tested positive for coronavirus.

The Vice President and Kyari were only seperated by one seat inside the council chambers where the Federal Executive Council meetings held.


Osinbajo’s media aide, Laolu Akande confirmed that his principal went into self-isolation after it was reported he didn’t show up in his office on Tuesday March 24.The Vice President will continue working from his home office in compliance with NCDC’s directive.

Laolu tweeted;

VP Osinbajo yesterday at the office conducted his meetings via video conferencing, while observing social distancing. Today, he continues his work from the home office, as he is in self-isolation in accordance with NCDC protocols.

Ade Ipaye, the deputy chief of staff who works with Osinbajo is also said to be in self-isolation. Though it is not clear how Kyari got the virus, it has however been linked to his recent trip to Germany with Minister of Power, Sale Mamman.

The top officials travelled to the European Country to discuss power projects with Siemens.

COVID-19: Ministers decline Abba kyari’s health status.


Members of the presidential task force on COVID-19 including the Secretary-General of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed today visited the Presidential Villa and the office of the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

When approached by newsmen to comment on reports of Kyari being infected with coronavirus, Lai Mohammed responded it is against the ethics of the medical profession to disclose the identity of a patient.

COVID-19: Aso Villa in panic mood as Abba kyari test positive.


President Muhammadu Buhari has tested negative for Coronavirus (COVID-19) following a test carried out by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Monday night.

This is even as the villa has been thrown into a panic mood.


Buhari, Kyari had joined other Muslim faithful to observed Friday Ju’mat’s prayer in the Presidential Villa, after undergoing multiple screening for the coronavirus pandemic before they were allowed into the Aso Rock mosque for prayers.

The NCDC reportedly informed the president of the result on Tuesday morning in Abuja.


A presidential source confirmed that Buhari’s test became necessary after his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

He recently returned from an official trip to Germany.


Kyari reportedly ran the test on Saturday based on medical advice, although he was not exhibiting any symptoms.

The chief of staff, had travelled to Germany on Saturday, March 7th to meet with officials of Siemens in Munich on the Nigerian electricity expansion programme.

He returned exactly one week later on Saturday, March 14th, but did not show any symptoms.

The Chief of Staff was seen actively carrying out his functions all through last week in the Villa.
