Lanre Gentry reveal why he hasn’t remarry since he left Mercy Aigbe.

After several reports that Lanre Gentry, the estranged husband of actress, Mercy Aigbe, has married another woman simply identified as @fab_mrsgentry, the hotelier has made some clarifications about the alleged new lover.

During an interview know to Noble Reporters Media, Gentry clarified that the woman in question is his brother’s wife and not his new lover as many had assumed.

He said, “Who said that I have a new wife? A lot of people just make assumptions based on my Instagram posts. The lady that I referred to as my wife is my younger brother’s wife. She lives in London with her family. I called her my wife because she’s my brother’s wife. People didn’t read my post very well. I wouldn’t tell my supposed wife to greet her family.

I can feel their pain – Nigerian Actress, Mercy Aigbe react to domestic violence reports on her DMs

“I don’t know why some Nigerians are quick to jump to conclusions when they see innocent and harmless posts online. Mercy Aigbe knows the lady I celebrated very well. This is not the first time that people have speculated that I’ve married another woman based on social media posts. It seems a lot of people are just obsessed with marriage for me. I’m a Yoruba man and if I want to marry another wife, I would do that.”

However, Gentry stressed that he still has a good relationship with Aigbe. He added, “Me and Mercy are not fighting. If I want to see her, I would call her and if she needs anything, she also calls me. We have a good rapport. God has the final say over our relationship and He knows how it would turn out in the future. I take care of my children. I can’t speak for other fathers but I carry out my responsibilities as a man. I still see Mercy as a part of me. It’s only a mentally unstable man that would leave a woman with children to go and fend for herself. I pay my children’s school fees diligently and I thank God that their mother is also taking good care of them. It’s not easy for a woman to work and also take care of the children.”

The hotelier also stated that his hotel might be offered (to the government) as an isolation centre in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. “My business has stopped for the past eight weeks. We are not doing anything. During the lockdown, I spent over N5m. I gave palliatives to vulnerable people. I don’t need to make a noise about what I’ve done. I deliberately didn’t post anything about it on social media but all the people in my house know that I gave out those things. Though my business is not functioning well, (but) I’m thankful for the gift of life. I am also thinking of giving the Lagos State Government my hotel to be used as an isolation centre. It’s still a thought but my board of directors has started deliberating on it,” he said.

He belongs to another woman so please it had better be worth it. Don’t go and collect chocolate and flowers as gifts from a married man oh.

“If you do, your head needs to be examined. If you are dating a married man, chop his money, collect his money because that man is already married. So stupid girls will be dating a married man will be doing love…sis he is not yours. He belongs to another woman so use your brain.”

He slapped me, I thought I was dreaming – Mercy Aigbe speaks on her broken marriage

Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, has opened up on her failed marriage with estranged husband, Lanre Gentry. The single mom of two left the hotel owner on grounds of domestic violence.

In a new episode sighted on her Youtube channel, she recounted the terrible experience saying;

“The first time the slap came, it felt like I was dreaming. I wasn’t expecting it and I was shocked beyond words. I didn’t know it was going to happen but it happened. The begging would then come after that.

Once a man raises his hand to hit you, he is going to do it over and again. However, because it was my second attempt (at marriage), I was ready to make it work, even with all the violence. I was there hoping and praying. I just wanted a happy home.

“The incident that broke the camel’s back was the one where I almost died. The beating was horrible. People often say actresses don’t want to remain married. Who told them that? (You think) being a celebrity doesn’t make me human? Does (being a celebrity) mean I don’t want to have a happy home?

They say actresses are promiscuous but promiscuity is not (the exclusive preserve of) any profession. When mine (break-up) happened, it wasn’t easy because I am a celebrity. I read a lot of things online. Some people even said I made it up. But, nobody can dictate to me how to live my life.”

Marriage isn’t an achievement – Mercy Aigbe speaks after second marriage

Mercy Aigbe who has been married twice is of the opinion that marriage is overrated.

The now single actress , who got separated from her husband, Lanre Gentry, in 2018, amidst allegations of domestic violence, said mothers usually brought up women to take whatever their partners did to them, all because they wanted to stay married.

While narrating her marital ordeal via her Youtube channel, Ms Aigbe said, “Our mothers brought us up, as women, to take whatever our partners do to us. They tell us to take it because we want to remain in a man’s house. To me, it is not an achievement. Let’s just say as it is– marriage is overrated. It takes two people to make it work; it’s not just about the women. But, everybody keeps heaping all the responsibilities on the woman. That shouldn’t be.”

Describing how she was assaulted, Aigbe said, “The first time the slap came, it felt like I was dreaming. I wasn’t expecting it and I was shocked beyond words. I didn’t know it was going to happen but it happened. The begging would then come after that. Once a man raises his hand to hit you, he is going to do it over and again. The actress also noted that religion doesn’t encourage women to speak up when they are assaulted by their husbands. She added, “I have been through domestic violence and I came out strong. I would love to see the end of domestic violence in society. It wasn’t easy for me because society always shames one. Everybody believes if one is experiencing domestic violence, one has to be patient as a woman and take it all to remain in one’s husband’s house. A lot of people have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence. And religion is not helping. An assaulted woman could go to her pastor and the cleric would say, ‘Oh madam, you need to keep praying’. Is it until she loses her life?”
