Tragic: Mayhem as another pipeline explosion hit Lagos

Pandemonium has broken out in Isheri-Idimu community, Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State after a pipeline explosion occurred.

NoRM gathered that the explosion occurred around 12.50 pm on Sunday and has left many residents to scamper for safety in the area.

Breaking: Hooligans ignite explosives in Wike father’s Church.

Though no group had claimed responsibility for the dastardly act, two of the miscreants were said to have been apprehended by a vigilant group and handed over the police.

Explosion has rocked a church belonging to father of Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Noble Reporters Media learnt that hoodlums numbering about five sneaked into the Christian Universal Church International on 25 Azikiwe Street Mile, 3 Diobu, on Saturday night and detonated the explosives suspected to be dynamite.

NoRM gathered a significant part of the church was damaged by the explosion, which created panic in the area.

The operatives of Eagle crack, an outfit of the state police command, Mopol 19 and other security agencies were said to have cordoned off the area…

Update: Court releases Sen. Mo Ali Ndume on bail

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Friday, released Sen. Ali Ndume on bail after spending five days in Kuje Correctional Centre.

Justice Okon Abang, who gave the ruling, said the court decided to exercise its discretionary powers based on Ndume’s good conduct in the course of the trial of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT), for whom he stood surety.

NoRM reports that Ndume (APC-Borno South) was remanded in prison custody after Maina was said to have jumped bail.

AfDB President, Adesina react to allegation against Gowon.

Days after the allegation was leveled against the former Head of State, Nigeria’s Former Agriculture Minister and the current head of AfDB, Akin Adesina has decided to speak out.

Noble Reporters Media reported few days ago that the former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon had looted the CBN when he was in charge.

The allegation which was leveled against him by the British Minister for Africa, who was represented by Mr James Duddridge.

In a tweet he made on his twitter handle, he warned Nigerians to be careful of misinformation.

He went on and made it clear that Gen. Yakubu Gowon is indeed a man a great honour, decency, honesty, amazing simplicity, humility and integrity.

He made it clear that he knows his well, as he regarded him as an elder statesman of Nigeria.

Akin Adesina might be right in all he has said about the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.

Just in: Son, Wife of Atiku’s SSS abducted by Gunmen

The sources said the gunmen got to the community around 2am shooting into the area and breaking into the house of the lawmaker’s brother.

Suspected gunmen have abducted the wife and son of a security detail of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Reports, NoRM

The kidnappers were believed to have gone for the said aid to Atiku, whose name is not given but confirmed to be a police personnel, but took his wife and son when they did not meet the man.

Sources said Wednesday that the incident took place in the night of Monday in Yolde-Pate, Yola, when the target was believed to be still around after reportedly having come to town with Atiku for the weekend.

“The kidnappers believed that the police personnel, being so close to Atiku, would have money, so they went for him but took his wife and son when they did not find him,” a source said.

NoRM‘s correspondent also learnt Wednesday morning that a brother of one of the state lawmakers was abducted about the same time elsewhere in Adamawa State.

Local sources said an elder brother of the state Majority Leader Hammantukur Yetisuri was abducted from his home in Jada Mbulo by gunmen who demanded N50 million as ransom.

“They got away with the man, shouting that they would not return the man unless the family paid N50 million,” a source said.

The Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the two abductions, including the aid to Atiku being a police officer, but he did not give names.

He gave assurance that the police would do everything to free the abducted people and bring the gunmen to book.

Just in: Court abrogate Faisal Maina’s bail amid failure to attend Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier on Tuesday commenced the trial of Abdulrasheed Maina in absentia.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has revoked the bail granted to Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina who is standing trial for alleged fraud to the tune of N58million.

Faisal Maina who is the son of the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina is also being accused of operating accounts that were used as conduits for illegal transactions.

At the resumed trial on Tuesday in Abuja, Justice Okon Abang revoked the bail of Faisal Maina for failing to appear in court as the defendant was also not represented by a counsel.

Justice Abang also ordered Mister Faisal Maina’s surety to appear in court at the next sitting as he adjourned the trial to November 25, 2020.

As a result of the absence of the defendants and their counsels, Justice Okon Abang fore-closed their rights to cross-examine the prosecution witnesses who was present in court.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Mr Maina for alleged money laundering to the tune of N2 billion.

Just in: Student enrollment in Kano rises to 1.9m

The commissioner, who attributed the soaring enrolment to the growing population in the state, declared that Kano has the highest number of public schools in the country.

As Nigeria joined the rest of the universe to commemorate World Children’s Day celebration, Kano state has maintained lead in pupil’s enrolment with density of those in basic one to three alone now stood at 1.9 million.

The present enrolment figure of children in public primary schools steers concern amidst acute infrastructural deficit and growing number of out of school children in the state.

Kano state Commissioner for Education, Malam Mohammad Sanusi Kiru, disclosed the enrolment figure on Friday during a special kid’s takeover event organized by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to commemorate World Children’s Day celebration in Kano.

Besides, Kiru maintained that government policy on free and compulsory education in basic and junior secondary public schools may largely contributed to possible increase in the near future.

Although, the education commission admitted challenges of congestion of pupils because of acute infrastructural deficit, he said the situation will be addressed by the recent government approval for capital project essentially for construction of new classrooms and rehabilitation of old structures.

Kiru explained that Kano state government has sustained provision of N1.5 billion counterpart funding to access the Universal Basic Education fund in the last six years, adding that the state government has invested huge chunk of the fund on capital project essentially to reduce population density in the classroom.

The commissioner applauded the UNICEF for organizing the kids takeover event which witnessed the commissioner of education and his counterpart at the ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development ceding their position to the kids for three hours.

Kiru pointed out that such initiative would further prepare the kids ahead of leadership position in the future.

Earlier, the child commissioner for education, Al-Zubail Bashir charged government to ensure equal right and opportunity to every child to quality education, provision of clean water, healthcare, and hygiene.

Media officer, UNICEF office in Kano, Mr Samuel said the World Children’s Day was parts of UNICEF’s global day of action for children, by children against the adoption of the UN convention on the rights of child. He explained that the 2020 event came amidst COVID-19 reimagine campaign when the world listens to how children will reclaim better future.

Just in: CNN calls out Lai Mohammed again. [Video]

The minister for information Lai Mohammed, has said that he would sue CNN for what they have done.

The international news channel called CNN, has released strong evidence which shows what actually happened during the protest, at Lekki toll gate in Lagos state.

With the video being released, it has created tension around the country Nigeria.

NoRM has learnt that it is standing by its report, given about the Lekki toll gate incident.

They also said that Lai Mohammed did not provide any evidence, to show his words about them being “irresponsible” with their evidence which he claimed was “one-dimensional, and lacking in balance.”

Recall with NoRM that Lai Mohammed claimed that the Nigerian army, only shot empty bullet on peaceful protesters at Lekki toll gate.

CNN also said the Nigerian army, and the lagos state government hasn’t commented anything about the evidence released, because most of their reports were based on testimonies from witnesses, and photos gotten by CNN.

CNN also revealed that they examined videos gotten from people present at the time of the incident, and protesters by using time stamp, and data from the video files.
