COVID-19: Oyedepo blast FG, fault continuous church ban.

Advertisements

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church International, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, yesterday, condemned the continuous closure of churches, saying that COVID-19 has suddenly become an anti-church virus.

The cleric, in a sermon tagged “Breaking Invisible Barrier,” wondered why schools are closed because of the virus, but children go to the markets hawking and helping their parents.

He wondered why places, where healings take place (the churches), are shut but markets, where diseases could easily be spread, are opened. Oyedepo, therefore, noted that there were unseen forces behind the closure of the churches and Christians must rise to pray.

He said: “What they called coronavirus has suddenly become anti-church virus. The market places are rocking, people are running over themselves, physical distancing is zero, hand washing is zero, yet, coronavirus doesn’t go there; it only goes to the churches.

“I know that the gods of the land are behind this; some merchants of evil are behind this. But it is a hard thing for any man, no matter the backing he may have, to kick against the bricks. The church where healing takes place around the world is shut down and the market places where diseases are easily spread is opened. There are some states in Nigeria that have opened activities some weeks ago, and there are no high cases recorded. Even one state in the North that has the worst case has opened up a long time ago.

“This is an anti-church virus and the God of the church of Christ neither sleeps nor slumber. As of today, we have 114 clear cases of coronavirus healing testimony and there are many churches where healings take place by the word of God and not diabolical means.”
Is that where to shut down?”

Church can’t be open for 1 hour while market is open for hours – Oyedepo slam FG.

Advertisements

Nigerian preacher and the founder of the megachurch Faith Tabernacle, Bishop David Oyedepo has again lashed out at the government for opening markets for hours and church for only one hour.

According to Oyedepo, there’s been no Coronavirus outbreak in states where churches have been allowed to reopen, as he criticised the federal government over stalling the reopening of churches to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

As we all know, churches were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though some states have reopened them.

He also compared the vulnerability of churches and markets after he alleged that religious centers were directed not to hold services for more than one hour while markets are allowed to open for eight hours.

The founder of Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel also stated that there might soon be a “preaching censorship board” with the recent directives issued by leaders in the country.

Bishop Oyedepo insisted that the “enemy” is fighting against reopening of churches, sarcastically asked if people won’t go on with their lives even if a family member dies. He also recalled how he went back to school after his classmate died in class.

COVID-19: No disagreement on churches closure – Oyemade said amid Oyedepo, Oyakhilome’s feud.

Advertisements

The Senior Pastor of The Covenant Nation Poju Oyemade has disclaimed widespread media reports stating that he disagreed with prominent pastors Chris Oyakhilome and Bishop David Oyedepo.

“My attention has been drawn to articles going around some websites that an article I wrote on how one can remain effective during these times was written in response to Bishop Oyedepo’s statement on the closure of churches. That assumption/inference is simply incorrect,” Oyemade said in a statement on Saturday.

Pastor Oyakhilome and Bishop Oyedepo had recently spoke against the continuous closure of churches as the coronavirus pandemic lingers saying it was against the expansion of the church.

Advertisements

However, Oyemade in a post on his Instagram page said that the closure of churches does not in any way stop the Holy Spirit from working, hence, it was nothing against the church expansion.

Several news reports inferred that Oyemade’s post showed a “disagreement” with Pastor Oyakhilome and Bishop Oyedepo.

But Oyemade’s post from which the news reports were written came 48 hours before Oyedepo’s comment.

Advertisements

“Facts can easily be verified by checking time-lines. My article was written before Bishop Oyedepo spoke. I do understand that certain narratives drive traffic to websites and sowing seeds of division does attract attention.

“I will like to make it clear and on record that my article was written 48 hours before he spoke. In the article, I did emphasise that criticising other ministries and churches’ operations is not a sign of strength on one’s part, so the article contradicts the conclusions being inferred”, Oyemade said.

COVID-19: Markets can’t be open while churches are closed – Oyedepo kicks. [Nigeria]

Advertisements

Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide has criticized the continued closure of churches due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Federal Government ordered against social gathering a to help curb the spread of coronavirus which now has over 2000 confirmed cases in Nigeria.

The decision affects churches and mosques which can contain over 50 people gathered for service.

Advertisements

“There is something wrong, for people to be allowed to be in the market for six hours and cannot be in church for two hours, it is an upside down way for looking at things.
Which one is more orderly? The market or the church?

“I can smell a rat. The Lord spoke to me on it strongly on it yesterday. I can smell a rat behind all this. It is how do we stop the church from exploding.

Advertisements

“The voice of darkness are influencing people at various levels targeting the church because the growth and expansion of the church is the greatest headache of the devil. But the gates of hell shall not prevail.
The devil and his agents shall surely pay for this.

“I don’t know what hospital that records the kind of healings that the church of God records. And now hospitals where people die everyday is open but the church is closed.” the Bishop stated.

As a prophet, I can tell you that Buhari’s days are numbered – Nigerian Bishop, Oyedepo.

The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said the days of President Muhammadu Buhari are numbered in Nigeria

Oyedepo, lamenting the state of the nation, described Buhari as a bad leader, adding that his government is the worst in the history of Nigeria.

He made the statement on Sunday while delivering a sermon during the second service of the church at the Faith Tabernacle, Ota, Ogun State.

According to him, Buhari’s government had no direction and is like a curse on Nigeria.

“In my view you are bad and you shouldn’t be a leader. I have the right to say so. As far as I am concerned, I am a true born and thoroughly-bred Nigerian, an intelligent one.

“In my view, this is the worst thing that has happened to Nigeria, this government. It is the worst and in fact, it is like a curse.

“I led the first prayer and fasting for Nigeria in 1979, that tells you I am not a baby in the affairs of Nigeria.

“This is the worst government, a government with no direction. Their days are numbered. I can tell you as a prophet that their days are numbered.”

Oyedepo also made reference to the hate speech bill being sponsored by Senator Sabi Abdullahi

He went further to describe the bill as the most ridiculous and stupid bill anyone could think of.

The cleric queried the strategy of the government to criminalise hate speech while giving freedom to those who kill others

Oyedepo added, “The government in this country is making a draconian law – hate speech. They said if you speak hatefully, you have committed murder. Out of someone who says I will kill you and the one who kills, who has committed a crime? I don’t understand which kind of animal farm we live in.

“I said stop stepping on my toes and you said that is hate speech but somebody kills and he is walking free on the streets.

“This is the most stupid and nonsensical ideal anybody can think of.”

COVID-19: Church is made up of both literates and illiterates – Oyedepo explain why he held service despite ban.

Bishop David Oyedepo has revealed why a fully packed service was held at its headquarters, despite a ban on public gathering of 50 people in Ogun State.

In a statement released by Steve Ogah, special assistant to Oyedepo who is the founder of the church, the church stressed that its fully packed service on Sunday was devoted entirely to sensitizing and mobilizing its members against the dangers of coronavirus (COVID-19).

It was further gathered that Bishop Oyedepo has since engaged Ogun State Government at the highest level to clarify the issue and any misgivings and also reiterate the full support of the church for the State Government’s efforts to ensure public safety, towards curtailing the spread of this deadly virus.

The statement reads;

“It has become necessary to issue this statement to clarify issues surrounding why Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, the International Headquarters of Living Faith Church in Ogun State, held church service on Sunday, although with less than half of her regular worshippers.

For the avoidance of doubt, as stakeholders and as a responsible organization, Living Faith Church fully supports and encourages compliance with all initiatives of the government to combat the spread of this dreaded virus.

However, information has to be strategically disseminated to the grassroots, noting that the Church is a family and not an industry, it is for this reason that enlightenment and sensitization from the Church platform is a most effective way to get people involved in playing their part in terms of prayers and intercessions and not just staying away from Church without knowing what to do.

As we all know, the Church is made up of both literate and illiterate congregants; many are not in touch with any of the modern platforms of communication and this is what we did yesterday. Indeed, the service was devoted entirely to sensitizing and mobilizing members of the Church regarding the danger of this deadly virus and the need to comply with government directives.

The Bishop has since engaged Ogun State Government at the highest level to clarify this issue and any misgivings and reiterated the full support of the church for the State Government’s efforts to ensure public safety, towards curtailing the spread of this deadly virus. He appreciates the opportunity of direct engagement and the understanding of the government.

Cooperation to safeguard public safety is not just a moral obligation or civic responsibility; the church also considers it a spiritual duty.

The Church shall continue to engage all necessary logistics to ensure compliance with government directives and continue to pray for speedy divine intervention to stem this deadly virus.”

COVID-19: Oyedepo react to closure of schools, churches.

...CAN order churches not to send back members

coronavirus cure would be found this week – Bishop Oyedepo

Founder of Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has reacted to some state governors’ decision to close schools due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at a fully-packed service at Canaanland Ota, despite a ban on religious gatherings of more than 50 people in Ogun State due to outbreak of Coronavirus, Oyedepo stated that the only disease that has no cure is hunger.

He said;

“May God help our policy makers to make the right decision in finding solution to this scourge called Coronavirus.

“Now children are out of school, to go back to that crowd. Would they not be more secured in school where they are only 20 in class? They will now go to help their mama, to sell pepper in the market where you contact about 500,000 people a day in big cities. Everybody is trying to find solutions, may we find the right solution.

“May God help our leaders to make the right decision in search of solution to this pandemic.”

Oyedepo also disclosed that his church is working on programmes to enable localised congregation instead of mass gatherings on service days.

“What we are doing is to ensure that the plague doesn’t spread. This has never happened in my lifetime that nations are shutting their doors against each other.

“The world is at war with an invisible enemy and we must pray. Schools are being shut down, people are entering buses where everyone is breathing on everyone, every market in Africa is an open market. Can we test everybody taking a bus? Only God can rescue the world at this time.

“We are a law abiding congregation and must follow measures being put in place to contain the spread.”

He told his members that the cure for the deadly virus will be out soon and nations shall rejoice again.

Oyedepo added;

“Only the help of God can save Nigeria and Africa in a while from this Pandemic.

“Plagues cannot stop us. Coronavirus cannot stop God’s children, but I assure you that the solution will be found this week.

“Strategies are being developed on how to manage this in respect to our worship programs. We will come up with specific programs during the week that will be communicated to everyone.

“Our Zonal positions may have to be enlarged to accommodate a lot of people.”

Following the criticism that trailed the fully-packed church service, David Oyedepo’s Ministries International shared a memo in which CAN instructed churches not to send back members who attend services today.

DailyPost reports that the Pastor Gideon Oyedepo was accused of constantly harassing and assaulting members of his branch, slapping them at will.

Aigbogun, who is recuperating at a medical facility in Benin, said he was the latest to be slapped by the Pastor.

He appealed to the founder of the church, Bishop Oyedepo, to rescue them from further beatings from his younger brother.

“I want concerned authorities to rescue us from him, we have received enough slaps. We are begging his elder brother, Bishop David Oyedepo, to save us from the overnight emperor before is too late.

Since his arrival at our branch, he has slapped two persons and he keeps saying nobody can do him anything. He has turned the branch to something else.

They called for unity meeting on Sunday and I was part of those that attended. All of a sudden, he just turned to me and started calling me devil, idiot.

Before you know it, he just slapped me and he said I cannot do him anything and that he has been planing to deal with some of us in the church. His P.A. joined him.

On his instruction, his P.A. went and brought soldiers who they said were from Supply and Transport (S&T) Barracks. They pounced on me, rough-handled me and beat the hell out of me,” he said.

Aigbogun, who said he had reported the case at Okhoro Police Station, said all he wants is justice.

Other members of the church told journalists that Gideon Oyedepo threaten that should his elder brother who owns the church act on complaints of members and perhaps drop him, he will form a white garment church of his own.

Examine your head, you have no right to crucify anybody – Yekini Nabena slam Oyedepo.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday lambasted Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church for prophesying that President Muhammadu Buhari’s days are numbered.

Speaking, APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena asked that the bishops head be examined, suggesting that the Winners chapel founder has not contributed anything to Nigeria.

Recall that Oyedepo had told his members that Buhari’s government was the worst in Nigeria’s history and a curse to the nation.

Addressing his members during Sunday service, Oyedepo had further stated that Buhari’s days were numbered because the current government has no direction for Nigeria as a whole.

Reacting, Nabena maintained that the General Overseer of Living Faith Church has no right to make such remarks.

According to Nabena: “What has he contributed to Nigeria, Oyedepo has no right to crucify or tell anybody that their time has come to an end.

“He has no right, he should examine his own head what has he given back to the community. Despite the billions of naira and dollars, Nigerians have contributed through offerings to him what has he given back to the community?

“What has he contributed to the country? So he is not in a position to tell Nigerians what to do because they voted for Buhari so he has no right”

Buhari’s government is cursed – Bishop Oyedepo announce.

Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel has described the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as directionless and like a curse.

Fasting can’t make you prosperous – feed into it – David Oyedepo

Winners Chapel founder, Bishop David Oyedepo has warned Christians that one cannot fast his way to prosperity. He urged those who spend their days fasting in the hope of becoming rich, that such a thing cannot happen.

According to the clergyman who tweeted, the way into prosperity is not by denying oneself of food but by feeding on the word of God.

“You cannot fast your way into your prosperity, you feed into it through the Word of God”, he tweeted.

In another post, Oyedepo stated that one can be a Christian and still be in lack. This he says is because the person is failing to see what God is saying.

“God is no respecter of any person but of His Word. It is very possible to be a Christian and live in lack and want. Until you see what God is saying, you remain the same. God is no respecter of persons, He only respects faith in His Word”, he added.

We own Nigeria too – Bishop Oyedepo says his Church members can also be president

David Oyedepo, presiding bishop of the Living Faith Worldwide, says over 10,000 members of his church are qualified to be president of Nigeria.

The 65-year-old clergyman disclosed this while speaking against citizens who “claim the nation” as their own during his recent church service.

According to him, there are many people in his church who have the ability and experience it takes to lead Nigeria, only that they’re not given a chance.

“We’re not strangers. We’re citizens of this country. There are more than ten thousand people in this church that qualify to be president by virtue of capacity, experience,” the clergyman said.

“…what have you? How dare you claim you own the nation. Cursed be that thought! We own this nation together. I’m not an adopted citizen. I’m born, bred, and original like many others.”

Oyedepo recently made headlines after a series of news reports wrongly claimed that the US embassy denied him a visa renewal after he failed to meet the requirements for the document.

He was also in the news after dismissing an undisclosed number of officials for allegedly conniving to “loot millions” from his church’s treasury.

This had come after the clergyman was rumoured to have approved N650 million for road repairs in Ogun state in a move that caused intense hysteria among Nigerians on social media.

Oyedepo’s visa ban: Winners Chapel, U.S Embassy react ..

Both the Embassy of the United States of America and Winners Chapel have thrashed reports that Bishop David Oyedepo, the Founder and General Overseer of the Living Faith Church, was denied US visa.
Reports widely credited to Thisday emerged on Friday that the embassy denied Oyedepo visa and that the flustered bishop flew into a rage at the Embassy.

The Winners Chapel said the bishop still has a valid visa and was no where the Embassy on Thursday.

The United States embassy on its official Twitter page, @USEmbassyAbuja, described the reports as ‘false’.

”#FalseNewsAlert!’’ Be advised, the reports making the rounds about a visa being denied to Nigerian Bishop Oyedepo are false.

”If you have seen this manufactured item in the media, help defeat this #misinformation by communicating to everyone that it is completely false.”

The Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel International, in a statement by the Chairman, Editorial and Media Board of Winners, Prof. Sheriff Folarin, further debunked the report.

According to him, the Bishop was at no time denied an entry visa into the US.

He also explained that Oyedepo still has a valid US visa on his passport and would not have applied for another one yesterday (Thursday).

He said, “Mainstream and online media spaces this morning (Friday) were abuzz with the news that Bishop David Oyedepo was denied an entry visa to the United States on Thursday, January 30, 2020. We wish to put it on record and categorically submit that this piece of information is not true. At no time was the Bishop denied a visa, nor did he create a scene at the US consulate in Lagos, as purported by some mainstream and online newspapers.

“The Bishop renewed his visa, last year, without any initial denial or drama, or scene. The Bishop was not at the Embassy or Consulate yesterday or even anytime this year. Bishop has been in Canaanland all this week. The last time he applied for a visa, which was last year, he was issued without delay.”

He also explained that the US Embassy had denied the reports, uring journalists to verify their facts before publishing.

“We have contacted the US Embassy and they are as surprised as we are about this FAKE NEWS, which some media houses decided to spread.

“We encourage the Nigerian media to always follow the line of due diligence before rushing to press and try to at least reach the church from time to time, whenever items try to pass through the rumour mill.

“Professionalism and wisdom require this so as to maintain integrity and make the media trusted in society, particularly in this age that fake news has become the news.

“Bishop Oyedepo is a good friend of the US government and has a very good relationship with US Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria. He is a social entrepreneur, who has touched so many lives in Nigeria, Africa, United States and all around the world.”

(Just what you need to read) Bishop Oyedepo feud how big rats eat up the church

Presiding Bishop of the Winners Chapel, Dr. David Oyedepo, is in the news after his shock revelation that some top officials of his church had looted the church’s treasury.

He made the revelation at the empowerment summit organised for ordained workers of the church on Saturday, with the story going viral since then.

Oyedepo said the officials, the fat church rats, mainly accountants have been sacked. He did not however say whether the church would seek retributive justice in the court of the land.

“Can you imagine accountants perpetrating fraud in the house of God?”, the angry bishop said.

“We had no choice but to dismiss them. You can imagine top church officials engaging in doubling figures and other dubious practices.

“Even after we dismissed them, we discovered more fraud.

“Those who should discover the fraud were the ones involved in it. One of them refused to confess until the last minute.”

He admonished the church members against employing the dismissed officials. He said he had to tell everyone present because he knew the dismissed officials “will come to you for employment.”

“Don’t employ them and don’t sympathise with them. Whoever sympathises with the wicked is wicked himself.”

Dead silence fell on the gathering as the Bishop reiterated: “Don’t sympathise with any perpetrator of fraud, otherwise you are a partaker of the evil act.”

Oyedepo did not disclose the volume of money stolen by the church rats, but newspaper reports assumed it must be in millions to provoke his anger.

However, his critic, Daddy Freeze, is not shedding any tear for him. In an Instagram post, Freeze refers Oyedepo to the scriptures, asking if the missing money came from the sweat of Oyedepo or whether it is a donation.

“This to me, is nothing more than a daunting cocktail of scriptural misinterpretation, misplaced priorities and misdirected resources, making this seem like it’s an odd in between compromise amidst a church and a business enterprise.

“For starters, the church building is NOT the house of God (the scriptures in acts 17:24 clearly tell us so)!

“Is money they stole money you worked for from your personal business enterprises? If yes they should face the wrath of the law.

“However, If it came from donations, let Acts 4:32 guide you. According to the aforementioned verse, the disciples shared everything equally, so there was no lack. Could it be that you haven’t been giving them their share and they now took it by force?🙄
