Advertisements

Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday described Big Brother Naija (BBN) 2020 first runner-up, Dorathy Bachor, as a “proud ambassador of the state for displaying leadership traits.”

Okowa, while congratulating Bachor’s achievements, assured her and other talented Deltans of the government’s support to achieve their dreams.

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa IIfeajeka, said the 24-year-old Dorathy from Ute-Okpu in the Ika North East Local Government Area of the state, had displayed leadership traits that distinguished her as a model for young persons in Delta and beyond.

The governor stated that he wasn’t surprised that she became the last woman standing out of 10 women among 20 housemates in the competition.

“We are glad she related very well with the housemates and survived all the evictions and avoided controversies in the house. She has portrayed the Delta character of being well behaved and a worthy ambassador of the state,” the governor stated.

Court orders senator Abbo to pay N50M damages fee to ‘the woman’ he slapped.

Advertisements

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Senator Elisha Abbo “Slapping Senator” to pay N50 million damages fee to the woman he slapped in a s*x toy shop, few months ago.

Disclosing this on Monday, Lugard Tare-Otu and Nelson who identified themselves as Warmate’s lawyers, confirmed the situation.

CONTINUE READING;

Recall with Noble Reporters Media that Elisha Abbo who happens to be the youngest Senator in Nigeria, assaulted the owner of the shop he went to purchase some s*x toys by slapping and accusing her of poising her Air Conditioner.

This was because one of the ladies that accompanied him felt sick immediatly they entered the shop and she started throwing up.

The shop owner however replied the senator by saying that if the air conditioner was contaminated, others in the shop would have also taken ill.

Advertisements

This reply was said to have angered Abbo, and the two began exchanging words over the matter. The senator was said to have called a policeman who he then ordered to arrest the shop owner.

The shop owner quickly called her father to inform him that Abbo had called police over the matter and that she was about to be taken away.

The shop owner’s friend who had been standing nearby tried to intervene by pleading with the second man to take things easy but was slapped repeatedly by the lawmaker.

Senator Abbo however tendered an apology to the woman, days after the assault. He mentioned that regardless of the provocation, his action did not portray him a good ambassador of the Senate, the PDP and the youths of Nigeria.

Advertisements

In his words;

“It is with a deep sense of remorse and responsibility that I, Senator Ishaku Abbo profoundly apologize to all Nigerians, the Senate, the Peoples Democratic Party, my family as well as our mothers- the Nigerian women. “I personally apologize to Babra (the lady he reportedly assaulted) and her family for my action which has brought immense discomfort to our body polity.”

“l have never been known or associated with such actions in the past. Regardless of what transpired prior to my expression of anger, I am sincerely sorry and plead that all men and women of good conscience should have the heart to forgive me. To err is human, to forgive is divine.”

“To the Church of God everywhere in the world, I am sorry. As an Ambassador of Christ, much is expected of me. My family and religious upbringing do not give approval to such conduct and for this, as a leader, I seek forgiveness before God and all those who feel offended by my action. “

“Indeed, this episode has taught me a very great lesson both as a private citizen and a public officer particularly as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria upon whom public confidence is reposed.”

Gist+: Kunle Afolayan apologizes to Mike Ezuruonye.

Advertisements

Award-winning movie maker and actor, Kunle Afolayan, has tendered a heartfelt apology to his aggrieved colleague, Mike Ezuruonye, after sharing an incriminating screenshot which implyed he was fraudulent.

According to Kunle, the actor had him misunderstood as he never intended to put him in the bad light.

“While I did not see my innocent reaction to an indicting post by a random IG follower as capable of further hurting my friend and colleague, Mike Ezuruonye, to be labelled a tribalist in retaliation is very unfortunate,”
“Honestly, I was misunderstood,”
“My reaction, which was rather spontaneous, was to chide the IG follower who appeared to be reporting the actor to me. And I merely asked (in Yoruba) how all of that was my business. It was like saying ‘when did I become an officer of the law’. Obviously, my colleague took the context of my post wrongly and angrily accused me of tribalism.
“I do not know what gave birth to such misrepresentation. However, while I am famous for living and promoting everything that my tradition stands for as a Yoruba man, I have maintained a mutual friendship with people of other extractions, Igbos especially. It is therefore not in the interest of both of us (Mike Ezuruonye and I) to politicise our emotion with tribal colouration. For me, this is undeserving of our other friends, and goes to offend the sensibility of genuine relationships we have each cultivated with people of other tribes.”
On how he has been promoting inter-tribal relationships through his works, Afolayan says the facts are there for all to see.
“The ideals are reflected in the themes and plots of my movies, some of which include; The Figurine, The Bridge, Phone Swap, Omugwo, and Roti.”
The movie maker futher said he has offered an olive branch on the matter. “I have told Mike ‘I’m sorry’ since he found my post offensive. I am also apologising to anyone who also may have seen things from his point of view. Ire o.” He wrote;

Storyline: Mali gov’t nominates new PM

Advertisements

Mali’s transitional president appointed former minister of foreign affairs, Moctar Ouane, on Sunday as the West African nation’s prime minister days after being sworn into office.

The appointment of a civilian prime minister was a major condition imposed by the West African regional economic bloc, ECOWAS, on Mali to lift sanctions that were imposed after an Aug. 18 coup. ECOWAS had closed borders to Mali and stopped financial flows to put pressure on the junta to quickly return to a civilian government.

Former Defense Minister and retired Col. Maj. Bah N’Daw was inducted Friday as the new transitional president while Col. Assimi Goita, head of the junta that staged the coup, was installed as Mali’s new vice president. The three government heads are to lead the transitional government to an election in 18 months.

The appointment of Ouane, 64, was made by official decree Sunday and signed by N’Daw. Ouane was minister of foreign affairs from 2004 to 2011 under former President Amadou Toumani Toure. He also served as Mali’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1995 to 2002 and later as a diplomatic adviser to ECOWAS.

The junta, which calls itself the National Committee for the Salvation of the People, deposed President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita in August, detaining him, the prime minister and other government officials. Keita, who became ill, was eventually released and has gone to the United Arab Emirates for treatment.

Advertisements

-Foreign Intervention-
ECOWAS became involved in negotiations that have pressed for a quick return to civilian rule.

U.N. officials have called for the release of the 13 of the 18 detained officials still being held at the Kati military camp in the Malian capital of Bamako.

There has been widespread concern that the upheaval in Mali will set back efforts to contain the country’s growing Islamic insurgency. After a similar coup in 2012, Islamic extremists grabbed control of major towns in northern Mali.

Only a 2013 military intervention led by France pushed extremists out of those towns and the international community has spent seven years battling the militants.

How Nigeria’s Hip Hop crook, Adekunle Gold react to petrol, Electricity tariff hike.

Advertisements

Popular Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold, has come for the Federal Government of Nigeria over hike in electricity tariff and fuel price.

Adekunle Gold described the recent hike in fuel price and electricity tariff as “madness”, adding that many Nigerians can hardly afford to feed themselves.

CONTINUE READING:

Recall with Noble Reporters Media that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had earlier declared that protests and strike would begin nationwide on Monday over the federal government’s refusal to reverse petrol prices and electricity tariff.

Advertisements

While marketers currently sell petrol between N158 and N162 per litre, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) had increased electricity tariff from N30.23 to N62.33 per kwh.

During a YouTube-inspired virtual hangout with journalists on Friday, Gold dismissed both increases as ill-timed.

“Madness, that’s it. That’s all I have to say. I don’t know how you expect people to thrive in a pandemic where many lost their jobs,” he said.

“People can barely feed. People can’t even go out to do things that will fetch them money. And, on top of that, you’re increasing fuel price. It can only be madness.”

‘I don’t have a sound, it’s the vibe’— Adekunle Gold talks genre switch

Speaking further, the 33-year-old, who earlier put out his third album ‘Afropop‘, addressed some observations from his fans as regards his sound switching from highlife to a pop-inclined style.

“With the album that I released, I have three albums so far. There have been changes. It was the intention. ‘Gold’ was more of highlife. And that’s because that was what I really felt back then,” he said.

“‘About 30’ was an upgrade. A little more pop. During ‘Gold’, I knew I wanted to make ‘About 30’. I knew what I wanted the sound to be like. I went into ‘About 30 ‘ with clear intentions as well.

Advertisements

“During ‘About 30 in November 2017, I already had a name for my third album. I already knew the direction I was going with it. It’s a progression. I wouldn’t call it a total change of sound.

“It’s just growing and the conversations I want to have. I wouldn’t say I tried to change my sound. I’m still the same person, only more confident now. I say a lot more without worry, just doing me.

“It makes sense to say I don’t have a sound because I can do anything. ‘Gold’ was highlife. ‘About 30′ was an upgrade with more pop. Now, ‘Afropop’ is totally different.

“Who would think that I can do dancehall, R&B. An EDM-sounding song like ‘Here For Ya’. I’m trying to take music to a new level where people have not. The legacy is, I want to say is I did all.”

[Nigeria] Buhari condemns attack on Zulum’s convoy.

Advertisements

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday condemned the ambush of an entourage of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, which led to the death of security men and some operatives of a civilian joint task force.

At least 11 security operatives have been confirmed dead in the attack on Friday, the second in as many months on Zulum’s convoy within his home state.

In a statement signed by spokesman Garba Shehu, the President described the attack, which occurred on the Maiduguri-Baga route, as an orchestrated sabotage against the long-planned return of displaced persons to their local communities.

“President Buhari notes, with deep sympathy, the loss of lives of security men on the convoy, ahead of the return of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, commiserating with their families and loved ones,” Shehu’s statement said.

“The President advises the government of Borno State, working with security and intelligence agencies, to remain firm in their determination to restore normalcy to all communities liberated from Boko Haram terrorists.”

According to the statement, President Buhari also urged security and intelligence agencies to intensify efforts to secure routes within the state.

“The President commends the gallantry of service personnel who repelled the deadly ambush, as well the sincere determination of Governor Zulum, who has been working with armed forces to end the menace of terrorists, rebuild homes and return IDPs to regular life,” the statement said.

“He prayed that God will grant the souls of the departed security men and operatives of Civilian-JTF eternal rest, and comfort their families.”
